What Commercial Fishing Means to Me
An Essay by London
Williamson
Having been raised in a commercial fishing family, I have grown up with the utmost respect for the men and women who put their lives at risk for their livelihood. I know first hand the privileges, and the hardships commercial fishing affords you. My father spent 30 years working the waters from New Foundland, to the Texas coast of the Gulf of Mexico.
I believe fishermen are a rare breed of people, whose hard work, integrity, pride, and sacrifices sets their industry apart from
others.
Watching my father through his years of being a commercial fisherman has taught me to be disciplined, determined, appreciative, confident, and above all humble. These are the qualities I see in my dad, as well as other fishermen I know.
Commercial fishing means learning to make the most of the limited time you have to spend with your loved ones. Treasure the quality time, and somehow make each day last in your heart and memory, until the end of the
trip!
Thank
you,
London Williamson

Congratulations to Pamlico High School Graduate London Williamson.
